ADOLESCENT THERAPY GROUPS
Groups are a natural habitat for adolescents
making group therapy a more desirable choice for some teens than other forms of treatment.
Some of the normal developmental tasks of adolescence include separating from family of origin, consolidating an individual identity, and learning to work and play in a culture of peers. As a result, group therapy as a treatment for adolescents utilizes the natural environment of teens, the peer group, to offer an opportunity for emotional and social learning.
